On my list of best ever gifts: an unexpected crate of goodies from William-Sonoma, courtesy of spirited family members who share our enthusiasm for a well-crafted cocktail.

Bitters, ginger syrup, martini olives, tools and a copy of Winter Cocktails, a collection of recipes from Maria Del Mar Sacasa.  I didn’t know how much I needed this book until I read it.  Recipes include hot and cold cocktails, DIY liqueurs, and small bites, along with bartender tips and much more. This handy resource will spend more time in my hands than sitting on a shelf.

Tonight I have a date with a fireplace, some old holiday vinyls, and Winter Cocktails.
